The tool you are looking for is urpmf. For example:
[flindet@flindet flindet]$ urpmf librpmbuild
rpm:/usr/lib/librpmbuild-4.0.4.so
rpm-devel:/usr/lib/librpmbuild.a
rpm-devel:/usr/lib/librpmbuild.la
rpm-devel:/usr/lib/librpmbuild.so

have tried now to find out, which packages are needed, if I'll install or
update for example the rpm-4.0.4-19mdk.i586.rpm-package.
What I got is a lot of librpm* files which would be required, but I cannot
find any file in all mdk9.0 dirs of a lot of ftp-servers, which provides the
mdk9.0-r
I'm reposting this as I've been having list problems as of late and didn't
know if it'd gotten posted. Sorry if it had...
