I'm using a 486dx2-66 at work to provide DHCP services, share a modem, cache
DNS, monitor network traffic, share 2 printers and some disk space so some
Win NT & 98 machines can all function together. It only has 16MB ram, but
still functions just fine. Gets a bit slow if too many big documents

workload on the web server going to be?
And for the news server are you going to start your own and how many
messages do expect from that?
In other words the server will not handle taking 50,000 hits a day and be

personally i would need to know more about the
machine.. ram, hd, nic's...
all in all, anything on a 486 will be slow compared
to a 166mmx setup, but still it will work and network functions (if installed
properly) will barely notice any difference.
I wouldn't do it with less than 64 meg
