Ajax,
This is a function of the BIOS.
I had Debian and Mandrake loaded on an IBM laptop.
I just used the Function keys on the laptop to switch between LCD or
External monitor, or both.
Have you tried that yet?

I don't think that you have any dependency on linux to get you notebook showing
images in the projector. Most (all?) notebooks have a function (Fn) key and a
key in the numeric row with a monitor-like figure. Press Fn+monitor and the
notebook start to display on the LCD or on the external device
I don't know about the IBM, but in every laptop I've ever had it a
simple matter of hitting the keys that told the hardware to switch to
the external monitor. It worked in Windows just the same as in Linux. In
one case, I did have to add a line to my XF86Config file to allow this,
but that was
Hi,
As John mentioned, this is indeed a function of BIOS.
I have a IBM A21p with Mdk 7.2 on it, and do presentations with StarOffice
on a regular basis.
To get external video going you press Fn-F7 repeatedly until the output
ends up the way you need it.
This will cycle through

I feel stupid now.
I tried my other monitor and changed resolution. It works now.
That should work well for my presentation next week. I'd like to get my tv
out working since some of my classes are small and a tv might be easier to
get. It would also be nice to be able to play DVD's on a
Greetings,
The A20p / A21p have a S-video input and output connectors on
the front right-hand side. I personally don't use them, but they *do*
work, see

Again, the resolution problem is going to bite you; suggest sticking
with a monitor
Whats the easiest way to change resolution?
Ctrl - Alt - +/- isn't working and mandrake control center screws up my usb
mouse.
Thanks

if ctrl alt +/- isn't working, you probably don't have your
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file setup correctly. You need to make sure you have
every resolution you want in your file

Greetings,
Well, y'all, gather around: It's time for me to take a deep breath
and recite a festival of pain adventure I have had...
Well, to make a long story (only somewhat) shorter: To change
resolution you must use the keypad + and keypad -, not the +
above the = (on US keyboards).
If you are using an IBM, try hitting Fn + F7 to switch between LCD and
external video mode.
It works on mine, I just used it on a projector the other day for a
presentation on Linux. Works great.

If I press shift numlock, the system beeps and the numlock light doesn't go
on. The keys for the number pad won't even type letters. The interesting
thing is the ctrl alt +/- works. In 24bit the resulting screen is distorted.
It works well at 16bit. The ATI driver doesn't work at 32bit.
