It does not appear as if my XF86Config-4 file is the problem. There was no real difference between your snippets and my config. I even dug up a backup copy I made not long ago when the wheel was working properly, and there was no change in wheel behavior. What else governs mouse wheel behavior?

You have to modify the XF86Config-4 (in /etc/X11) file by hand as I found out on my laptop. There was a thread on this around 12-12-02. I got helped by several on the list but also had to do some searching of my own. I have a laptop and I wanted my touchpad AND USB optical scroll mouse to be fu
