Ok,  I'll add my U.S. $.02 to the brouhaha about WD disk drives:

Up until 2 years ago, I didn't care really one way or the other -
just went for best price.  I still tend to lean toward best
price (I recently (about 2 months ago) bought a 40G Quantum
for $120 after rebate!), however abt 2 years ago I had an experience
that made me lean toward WD:

I had inherited a 2G WD IDE drive.  Plugged it in, it was dead.
Called WD to see if it was still under warranty.   It was
ONE MONTH out of warranty.

The support guy said "Hold on a minute, let me see if I can get
it covered under warranty" <pause> "Ok, send the drive in and
we'll send you a new one".

Under warranty - that had expired!  I was impressed.

So I tend to be a little more positive toward WD now than
before.  At least *someone* there knows what support means!
