I picked the 5 disc BluRay edition of "Blade Runner" yesterday. If you
are a fan of this movie you'll probably enjoy Ridley Scott's "final cut"
version. This cut has been restored using a 4K intermediate and is
gorgeous in HD. The movie stands up very well (as it has down over the
years). The "final cut" seems almost like a different movie but flows
very well. One thing that I think would be done differently if the film
were made today is that the "replicants" would probably be more
menacing. The commentary is very interesting. They actually believed
that the world might actually wind up under the rule of three if not one
corporations by 2019. Of course they missed that CRT TVs and computer
monitors would probably be extinct by then. :) But the rest of the
movie stands up well.

There are 5 versions of the movie in the collection including the
original theatrical release, the "director's cut", the "international
version" and the workprint. There are 9 hours of extras. The
collection was released Warner Brothers who announced on Friday that
they will no longer release titles in HD-DVD after May.
