Hi Khazana as I reply to you I'm aware of lots of thoughts and feelings as I
think back over my participation in FFL over the past 5 1/2 months.  It's been
quite a rich experience for me.  That would be one way to say it ha ha.

Anyway, about Barry, some people are making the point that he's MOSTLY
negative, that on balance, he's more negative than positive.  I know for me
I've been shocked at how there will be something really negative from him
suddenly and without any seeming reason.  I'm remembering his post about the TV
show Newsroom and he was writing positively about it, etc.  Then suddenly
there's this sentence which I will paraphrase:  And I really don't give a s**t
what you think.

Whoa!  I was like, where the heck did THAT come from?!  Like that, often he'll
write something positive but then towards the end he'll add on a negative tag.
Like there was a sweet post about Maya.  But he ended by saying something nasty
about FFL women.  OTOH, I enjoyed his posts when he first moved to Leiden.  And
sometimes he makes me laugh for which I'm always grateful.

With him and a few other posters, I begin most posts.  But if it becomes
negative in a predictable direction, I usually simply stop reading.  Negativity
is bearable.  But negativity in a predictable direction?  No thank you.  These
days I'm totally into brain neuroplasticity.  If you gotta be negative, at
least help my brain forge a few new neural pathways  (-:

Yes, sure, that's the way it is. So in this particular case of Barry, I wanted
to give an example, about *what I like about him*, what I see as a good quality
in him. That is, this innocence in sharing this moment, and not just this, also
they way he can convey it in a very readable manner, and, connected with this,
his inner independence.

I wrote this post, right after reading one of those criticisms on him, how he
is ONLY BAD, how he would be only out to hurt other people, as if he would be
some kind of a sadist. He is not. There are other motivations within him,
people tend to oversee, and I have tried to point these out. You have to
understand, Share, that I had many controversies with him in the past, some
actually quite extreme.

But I have always seen his good points as well, even then. And, Share, you
would be the first one to understand, we have a choice, we can focus on some
kind of negativity, some expressions etc., but usually don't really see what's
behind this. Or, you can focus your attention on the more positive aspects.
Everybody has this choice. Can we try to be more objective in our judgment? Can
we see beyond the superficial?

Just imagine you would collect all the posts of a certain person on FFL and
related forums like AMT, over decades, select the good ones, the ones who could
stand on their own. What would you get with each person here? With Barry, you
can be sure, you would get a bunch of funny posts, but also many posts which
contain perennial wisdom, which are mostly applicable also in a larger context
that goes beyond only this forum. Something that warns you to not fall into
spiritual traps. That is how I read him. We have a lot of values in common,
many of which I acquired AFTER I had left the movement. I guess the same is be
true for Barry too. His stories would make an interesting book. That is also
true for some others I know here, not of everybody though, certainly.
