We all (hopefully) look to the potential results of our (major)
actions prior to acting out. Out actions in this life have
consequences for ourselves and others in this life.

Thats karma, IMO. There are additional dimensions that MAY be also
karma. But belief or certainty about them is not essential for the
belief about the above.

Another layer, not essential to the first paragraph, is to speculate
that the results of our actions don't die when the body does. If you
save, invest wisely, it effects your life. But also those in your
will. An effect after your life.

Another speculation, not essential to the first paragraph, is parallel
to Conservation of Energy. Energy and matter are note created or
destroyed, they simply go through various transformation. The
stoichiometric (ah what an interesting sounding word) equations can
show the path of the same thing from here to there. Thus,
acknowledging there is some mental / emotive energy "in me", its not
implausible for me to speculate that this internal energy is not
destroyed at the death of the body, but is transformed into other
equivalent forms. Thus that my actions in this life might effect that
inner energy mass "inside of me" after the body goes, is not a zero
probability. IMO.
