I don't visit many websites except for documentation of known software so minimal protection is just fine on my Windows machines. There is an elitism amongst techies that one must have the latest, greatest and the mostest which means that some companies make a lot of money off that 'tude. And

FYI - AVG Anti-Virus 2013 is only free for the first 30 days. MS Security Essentials will work fine for ordinary real-time protection but for greater security along with malware removal, Malwarebytes is the free AV software used and recommended by many system techies. --- In FairfieldLife@yah

Hey, what about Microsoft Security Essentials! Free, and hasn't let me down in several years. I did AVG as well, and had no problems. But it always seemed like they put extra steps in the way of getting the free version after a while, and steered you to the fee based program. --- In FairfieldL
