The world seems so hungry for spiritual teachers that some seekers reach a particular phase where a little silence is integrated and/or they can control shakti, and they attract followers, but they themselves are still on the path, and have not yet fully immersed themselves in the eternal. So they suddenly have all of the responsibility and drama to lead a big following, but because they are still learning, they don't make very good teachers and confuse a lot of people, including themselves. Their influence these days too is magnified by the speed of communication. :-)
