Thanks for replying. It works now! My mistake was that I was trying to
get the certificates via Netscape with URL "http://fds-server:636";,
which always refused. The correct URL is "https://fds-server:636";.

The Solaris docs will also be somewhat helpful for this:

I have a Solaris 9 client and have configured it as a client of
fds-1.0.4 which runs on RHEL5. Without TLS, the Solaris client
authenticates against the fds fine. But, if TLS is enabled on the Sun
client, the ldapsearch commands runs ok, but, authentication fails.
The nscd logs the following error
Greetings listers,
i have a stumper:
i set up f-ds on CentOS 4.3, and got it working perfectly happy with
authenticating users on my linux boxen. Once that was working, I
started trying to get a solaris box to authenticate, following the
advice in the f-ds wiki. i have a test script that is a
Hello List,
I am currently in the process of switching from a Sun iPlanet ldap to FDS.
All has gone well except for my one remaining solaris client. I was using the
Solaris Client Howto as a reference. It mentions using netscape and browsing

I currently have a Solaris 9 client using LDAP for passwd/group and
NIS for netgroups and ethers maps, using TLS, against FDS. It took
some doing, but it can be done. Solaris 10 looks like it's going to be
a similar process.
If this is something worth documenting, I can probably help out with
that
Hi Brian,

The answer is yes. Any modern, properly configured LDAP server,
including Fedora DS, can support Solaris naming service. However,
getting the server "properly configured" can be tricky.
Ho
All,
Does the Fedora DS support Solaris Clients? If so, where can I find
information, schema examples, etc
Thanks in advance,
Brian
