without a problem by using the iscsiadm command and mount and r/w to the
device. So I know that it is accessible and permissions are right along
with firewall.

In addition,

I am left to conclude this is a bug in the realtek driver that is
preventing proper joining of a multicast session.
Any idea about how to resolve this or test it further?
