Kolourpaint is the exact thing that I needed for some very simple
tagged diagrams for my students.
But, alas, I could not compile gpaint ... contrary to the saying, I
think, I am getting older and dumber.
Anyway, that does not matter any more.

Kolourpaint is part of the kdegraphics package. "yum install
kdegraphics" or use one of the GUI front-ends.
