here's how I got Fedora 12 installed on the second-gen Air:
1. Used the Disk Utility on the OS

reformatting the drive with the Disk Utility prior to installing
Fedora.

Try booting with "c" pressed (it is supposed to be for CDs/DVDs but it
might work with a bootable external drive or with
"Command-Option-Shift-Delete" (it may not work with Intel Macs like
the Air though).

disk drive which works fine with it.
