Install esmtp, shut down the sendmail daemon, create a file, /etc/esmtprc with only 2 lines:
hostname = localhost.localdomain:25 mda "/usr/bin/procmail -d %T" Run alternatives --config mta and select '2' for esmtp. Presto!
