Now that an update has been announced for packagekit, will this update be
applied to official ISOs or will users be expected to apply the update
themselves or disable this behavior if they don't have the machine connected
to the net?

I can help as well if needed as only the installation and configuration
parts need to be reworked, all other sections are related to applications on
Linux. Let's see what the marketing guys think about it.

I think you want want to have a look at the Linux Starter Pack.
If we could come up with such a good document for Fedora users (the current
one is based on Ubuntu) it would be great to distribute at Fedora events.
