Re: [Felvtalk] Felv Testing Interval for kittens

I think the only way to get a 'true' test on felv kittens is to test them asap and then wait at least 60 days (preferably 90). Keep them totally away from other cats, and then retest. This is so hard to do that I don't think anyone can judge a cat at any age as positive or negative from one te

Thanks Wendy, I 'think' we are getting a medication routine going. It's hard to tell if he's eating because he won't eat in front of me. But he feels like he's gaining weight. He's still interested in treats. We're retesting in a couple of weeks, and unless things look good I'm going t

Hey Tonya, Glad you guys are getting some type of routine down.  It's funny how hard that can be sometimes, especially with all that you also have going on personally.  Keep us posted on Shaft.  I hope when he goes for his testing his numbers are in the normal range, and not still hyperT or hypo

um, why would someone back down because he was positive? is he in good condition? does he seem to have been a stray for a long time, or does it appear he might have recently joined the outside world? if its the latter, he quite possibly is testing positive to recent EXPOSURE, and will clear the vi

Yes, non-regenerative is the bad kind of anemia.  Regenerative means that his red blood cells still have the capability to regenerate, which is what he needs to survive.  I would put my money on the doxy.  So happy to hear that he's got his meds and has the better of the two types of anemia.  Pl

Sue, some fresh air on the deck sounds like good medicine to me.  Glad it is regenerative and you got the doxy.  Usually when a kitty isn't feeling well several small meals per day are better.  You might try crushing up a folic acid tablet and adding it to his food with the vitamins.  My FeLV+ k
