Hey folks-- While doing my own searches for inexpensive places to get Lactated Ringer's solution for Wallace, I came upon the following resource:
http://members.verizon.net/~vze2r6qt/supplies/local.htm It has a list of known pharmacies familiar with people like us taking care of sick animals, and can help with ordering cases of the stuff and other veterinary meds for a lot cheaper than the vet's office. Good vets won't mind giving a prescription over the phone to a pharmacy even though they'd make more money selling you the Rx themselves. Mine is great, and helps me save money anywhere he can. I wasn't able to find a pharmacy on that list near me, but I called local CVS, Target, and Walgreen's pharmacies to see if they could help me. I hit paydirt with the Walgreen's that's right next to my vet's office -- a case of Ringer's 1000ml bags for $21. That's a far cry from $35 per *bag* my vet charges (including IV drip-set and 10 needles). I talked to the vet's office manager, and she thinks that the Walgreen's price is a *lot* less than he's getting it from the vet supply place! Good luck to everybody and their furbabies!
