Assuming you are on the macOS...
Does your download directory is placed under "/" (Slash)?
On macOS, slash means start up disk directory. Might not be placed download
directory on there...

thanks for your answer. Unfortunately it now fails with an unknown protocol.
I’m thinking of errors in the url, but as I told it is working in vlc.

Try putting the URL in quotes.
