Art,
This is a perfect analysis of the Polaroid situation. I thought I'd add one
more comment, more of a perspective. I am the former owner of an SS4000. I
now own a Nikon LS-4000. I 'upgraded', really, for one reason -- the roll
film adapter, and it is wonderful. Digital Ice is nice, but not

Found this software on the web the other day and gave it a try.
Tried the demo version (a plug-in for photoshop) and it seemed to work
pretty well, although it was a bit on the slow side. Is it worth the

I just purchased the Belkin SCSI to USB adapter to scan through my laptop
when I go to Florida for six weeks.
I had no trouble using Vuescan but with Insight only half the image scans
properly.
I'll set it up later today and do a screen capture.

Ed, didn't you get the Elite II from Minolta yet to add his support to the

I'm waiting impatiently for this model reviews and your opinion about one.

Elite II when it will hit the market).

I've seen references to both the Sprintscan 4000 and Sprintscan 4000 plus.
Does anyone know what (if any) the differences are between the two?
Thanks...

All what I have heard about the new Minoltas is that they do have a grain
problem - recently someone added a commentary about the new Elite II in a
german newsgroup, saying that he has got unacceptable grain in 35mm Scans.
There are similar complaints in the imaging- resource- Forum about
scanners

Here's what I have in mind.
Assuming the resolving power is only 4800 dpi, so even if we
offset by 1 step, we won't have two discrete samples.
Thanks. Valuable contribution indeed.

Larry,
Polaroid does "officially" support ANY USB/SCSI or Firewire/SCSI adapters.
That being said the only ones that success has been reported with are
Adaptec and OrangeMicro. Adaptec seems to have the most success. MicroTech
particularly have failed.
