Hi,
I was wondering if I could ask a question of the Nikon Scanner folks. I
am preparing to install version 3.1.2 on my W2K machine. I know you are
supposed to uninstall the previous version and then run the regsweep
program. My question is the following: I did not get a regsweep.exe file
The site http://www.nikontechusa.com says this is for Windows XP. Did you
find that it improved your Win2K version's performance?
thanks,
Brian

Maybe I'm not looking at the images correctly but the _entire_ Nikon 4000
frame looks out of focus. Is this a fair test - to compare an out-of-focus
Nikon scan to an in-focus Canon scan?

I am in the U.S. and I can state that Genuine Fractals did come bundled with
the scanner. The online documentation (on the CD) was not informative and in
some cases erroneous. I eventually had to go to their website to look at the
documentation there to understand how to work the software.

Tom,
I find your comments intriguing. Could I ask a few questions? I find
that when I sharpen using Photoshop tools, there is oftentimes an artificial
dark or light line (sharpening artifact) that appears at the juxtaposition
or boundary of a dark and light area. This causes me to spend a

I have experimented with the radius setting. However, when I reduce the
radius enough to eliminate the halo, I do not get much sharpening. Also,
this white line (halo, if you will) does not occur everywhere - just certain
areas where a black boundary is net to a light area. At least it
If you want a description/review of this tool, the current issue of Photo

issue should be available at a well-stocked newsstand.

Hello,
I have just purchased and am experimenting with the Nikon Coolscan 4000
ED scanner. I have the software upgrade (3.1) and when I use the software
stand-alone (outside of Photoshop) I get images from slides and things run
pretty well. This evening I tried to scan my first color
