Ho Folks I have a Umax Astra 1220s using Vistascan s/w and have read Magicsan will work well on this scanner...but which version? When I go to the site there is no indication any version will work with it because it is not a Pro scanner, thje only place Magicscan resides. So I d/loaded mscan43.

You can manipulate contrast if you buy Ed Hamricks Vuescan software for US $40 [still 40?], plus you get evry upgrade thereafter for zipby doing the following in Vuescan 6.4.4... In the Colour tab [a box on the left] first section down is Image Contrast. it is set at 1..that means gamma 2.2
