I read recently (here, I think) that someone had been informed that the
Sprintscan 120 had been discontinued. I just checked the Polaroid website
and, in fact, it is the Sprintscan 4000 Plus that has disappeared. The 120
and 45 are still shown. Has anyone read any announcements of the SS4000+'s

By request, here is a re-post of how I accessed the mirror for cleaning
without dismantling the works. I did remove the top cover, which pops off
after four catches on the bottom are sprung open.
The mirror of course hinges while scanning, so I turned on the scanner power
(with the lid removed),
My SS4000 was having that well-known problem where it would grind
away incessantly and refuse to accept any film holders.
I got the free brush from Polaroid, and that kept the problem at bay for
a few weeks, but it came roaring back with a vim, and now I can't get
the
scanner to stop its pitiful
Polaroid has on order since December 500 SS4000 slide holders. I am trying
to get the status of this order and will advise.

Just FYI - I checked BH Photo's website today, and for the second
time in about a month or two the price on the Polaroid Sprintscan 4000
has dropped. It is now down to $899.95. I may have to jump in
to the water soon, as this is getting to be a great deal.
