I'm all for this, too!
Would it be any simpler to use the check range plugin as the starting point
so that all the regular transpositions/instruments could use this feature
(or maybe they would be able to without going that route?)

Wallstreet I partitioned my then new 20 GB internal HD with two 4GB
partitions and one larger partition of 10+G
