This could be the last time I announce updates of Patterson Plugins for a while, although there may be further relatively minor tweaks in the near term.

The main news is that Mass Copy has added measure-attached expressions. This is measure expression copying done as right as I can imagine it. Like all the meas-attached items, you can copy them from one place in the bar to another. But the best part is that in Finale 2003 you can copy them from one document to another, and they maintain their staff assignments.

If you've ever tried to combine multiple files into a single document, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. In particular, I'm thinking of the situation where you want a single part file made from multiple score files.

I plan to put a detailed explanation of how this works in the doc pages, but the gist is:

1. In the score, create a staff set containing only the part staff (or staves) in scroll view. (An alternative to this is to extract the part staff (or staves) into separate file and use that as the source for the copy.)

2. Insert these into the destinaton file using Edit->Copy/Insert.

3. Select the source measures (still viewing the staff set) and open Mass Copy, selecting Meas-attached expressions (and probably also clef changes).

4. Select the target measures in the target document. First clear the junk that Finale put there by hitting Mass Copy clear. (Before doing this, make sure only Meas-attached exps and clef changes are checked!) . Then hit Mass Copy paste, and (after waiting awhile) all your meas-attached exps and clef changes are there exactly as they were in the source.
