My soundblaster Audigy has 2 hardware synths on it of 16 channels each, plus a software synth of 16 additional channels. Both hardware synths call on the same soundfont, so it seems as if that would be the cheapest way to go -- you can buy SoundBlaster 5.1 cards (they are the previous generati
