Thanks for the information on "Rondo a la Turk." I thought that was the title, but wasn't sure. Since Brubeck was out to prove a point with his series of pieces with unusual metrical patterns, I can see why he would include (2+2+2+3/8) in parentheses. Otherwise, it's the notation that shows the beat (pulse?) patterns.

BTW, 6/4 should not be used when there are three groups of two quarters. 6/4 and 3/2 should be treated just like 6/8 and 3/4 - with one important difference: In 6/8 counted in 2, the beaming of 8ths shows the division clearly. In 6/4 a row of quarters can't show the division (although two dotted halves or half-quarter rhythms can).
