Yes, a typical sample file will include many different samples to fill
the entire range of an instrument.

You can find soundfonts which are already in GM format at various places
on the web. These you install to your soundblaster using the soundfont
utility.
If you want to cut and paste different patches from different
soundfonts, you need to use Vienna, which is a soundfont editor utility
