Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions concerning my problem with a
very large file in which my collaborator wanted to move songs among the
text pages of script. As I reported at the time I had a deadline of just a
few days away. I was able, fortunately, to turn in the score and script
with
Finale 2002 was before linked parts. You have to create the parts (you can do
this automatically) in Document Menu>Manage Parts… Generate Parts.
Then you should format them, because the default job Finale does kind of sucks.

Use the Transpose function (right click after selecting All with the Selection
Tool) and choose transpose down a M2.
This is assuming you have the Chromatic transposition on the trumpet staff
correctly set.
Check accidentals afterward. I don’t quite trust the Chromatic Transposition

I am modifying a work by transposing it down a tone from its original
version - now for trumpet and piano. Since the work is highly
chromatic, I do not want key signatures, and the original does not have
any. Having transposed the work down, I now have a piano part in Bb.
