I have used Finale 2005 on Windows XP for several years. I do not have a MIDI
keyboard for entry; I use Simple Entry and Speedy Entry with the computer
keyboard. Today I tried to help a friend set up his Finale 2010, and got stuck
on two items:
1. How do you delete empty measures?
2. How do y
I am using Finale 2005 for Windows, on an XP machine.
My Layer Selection Controls and Page turner arrows at the bottom left of the
screen have suddenly disappeared. I'm sure I must have clicked something simple
by mistake, but have no idea what it could be; I've gone through all the
toolbars and
Thanks to those who have offered to send me a disk; I have accepted one, and
will be waiting to receive it in the mail soon. I appreciate all the great
folks
on this list who are so willing to help one another, in so many ways! Happy
Thanksgiving to all.
In harmony,

Does anyone have an old Finale 2005 disk they would be willing to part with? I
would be most grateful, and more than happy to pay postage. Mine has been lost
in a move, and I have a new laptop.
Of course Fin2005 is no longer available from MakeMusic; they want me to
upgrade
to the latest vers
Does anyone know if Finale 2005 runs on Vista?
Thanks,

I am trying my hand at entering into Finale a Klezmer tune in the key of D
Freygish. I figured out how to set up a nonstandard linear key signature, with
3
accidentals: 1 sharp and 2 flats (F#, Bb and Eb) - The D Freygish scale is D,
Eb, F#, G, A, Bb, C, D.
I can get it all set up properly in
Thank you, Chris, Dick and Keith for your very helpful comments.
Your discussions are often way above my head, but I admire the
way that listers are always willing to help even with the simplest
questions as well. And Chris, your descriptive term "D Fraygish"
is wonderful!

I have been given a handwritten piece of Klezmer music to transcribe, called
Baym Rebn Sude. There are no chords, just a simple melody line. My problem is
this: It has 1 sharp (F) and 2 flats (B and E)! I was told that a) it is a very
simple piece, and b) the basic scale is D, Eb, F#, G, A, Bb,
Thank you Chris - for your workaround for changing the key sig in
mid-measure, and to David for confirming that this is probably the
ONLY way to do it in Finale. (How frustrating!) In the hymnal I am
using, the measure in question actually shows a thin double barline
prior to the mid-measure key ch

For Windows, I use a very nice FREE program called Primo PDF which
does NOT print its "ad" on each file produced. Download it from

I am using Finale 2005 for Windows. How do I change Key Signature in
the middle of a measure? I've searched the manual, and all I have
been able to find is this: apparently the Select Region Dialog Box
can be used with the Key Signature Tool, among others, to select a
region or a given staff inc
After confirming the "glitch" where Finale inserts a quarter rest for the 6th
beat and refuses to allow you to input another quarter note, I was able to
create a 6-quarters-in-4 tuplet (Finale 2005b) using Simple Entry and turning
OFF the "check for extra notes" feature.
I manually clicked in
I must compliment the folks on this list for their kind and caring
attitude, and willingness to help others. What started as a mild
annoyance at someone asking seemingly "simple" questions
might have turned into an ugly "flame" on another list. Instead,
it was treated gently, with patience
