That really should be the default, you’re absolutely right. The current
options are flexible and generally good, the user-friendlyness is not (just
like the MIDI tool…) It would be better with a hard-wired connection between
maps and layouts; that would make things flow easier out-of-the-box.

paradigm was introduced I was forced to dive into it. At first, it seemed
unaccessible, hostile and complicated. But when I finally understood the
mechanisms, it worked out nicely.
