This is the only way I know possible.
There is a button "All measures", top right in the Group Attributes window,
that would extend the group accordingly. Also, beffore creating the group
select all measures of the piece in the staves you want the group and then
create it.

Does anyone know a quick way to delete all groups that start after measure
1? Even better, to then extend all groups that do start on measure 1 to
cover the whole piece?
