Dear J.D.
I remember doing the same with a big oratorio back in 1991. To join the 3
big parts it took almost 2 days!
My own policy when dealing w. a huge file is to leave it in pieces,
and join up the extracted parts individually using clip files. IMO

working on. It is like 700 measures long. I have the sensation the Finale
2004 is faster doing this than in Finale 2003.
Why don´t you try to import the whole file into Finale 2004 and see what
happen? Nothing to

I´ll recommend a good brown beer like a Belgian Leffe. If not available then
some Franziskaner Picantus will do.
Now I wonder why composers insist in doing such long opera acts...
Good night, boys and girls.

Back in April, assembling the 10 sub-files took 5 weeks. Good thing I'm
well paid.

Well, this does solve problems, but it also means that you

Yup. It's called Data Check, and I do it after
I have to add that in my view the saving times are normal.
Just don´t save too often and cross your fingers.

Back to now:
1) First assign more RAM to Finale. You have plenty enough and that won´t
hurt your system performance at all.
2) Then you have to get a RAM disk utility. You can us

I don't think it is unusual, it may still be considered outrageous.

Have you done a File Maintence thing on the file? I don't remember what

As for size, I have a finale file that is approaching 2 megs. About 200
pages of 12 systems, 4 bars each. Yeah, it
I've been laboring for many months working on an enormous opera composed by
a client, based on Shakespeare's 12th Night. This project started out maybe
4 years ago, back in Finale 2001 or 2002, I can't remember. I decided early
on to break the file into sub-files due to its potential size. Act I
