I don't remember exactly how this is repaired, but I think I remember that this
kind of thing is a font issue, and that there is a way to resolve it fairly
easily. someone else may remember and be able to offer guidance.

I would try Doc OptionsNotes Rests, reset the half note rest
character in the rest character menu about 2/3 down.
