It is a well known issue that Finale sometimes causes repeated notes not to play back because of the overlap of key off and key on MIDI messages. This is especially true on sustaining instruments.

One way to take care of it is to go into the MIDI tool and shorten the duration of the offending note.

Today I discovered that the silent harmonics diamonds can also cause missed notes to occur in some circumstances. Human Playback does a good job of playing harmonics at the right pitch, but did you know that the diamond harmonics notes were also stealing a voice (MIDI note on and off) even though you can't hear it?

I had a case where my artificial violin harmonics at a P4 was missing a note when the melody went up a P4. The harmonics note was causing the pitched note after it not to sound. The remedy was to shorten the duration of the harmonics diamond in the MIDI tool.

It took me months to figure this one out. I hope I've saved someone on the list the same agony!
