I would like to but a laptop to work on finale this summer, when I
will be away from my regular equipment. I'm used to macs, but for
financial reasons will probably buy a PC. Any advice would be much
appreciated.

I was about to jump in and say that you could get a used Mac iBook G4
for very little money, but then I saw that you are running 2004,
which was very slow as I remember. I can't recommend the combination.
2005 was way faster.

I assume you aren't in a position to pay for a big upgrade to bring your
Finale license current.
How about Finale Notepad? That is 10 bucks and gets you up to the
current code level. Unless you are doing some really heavy work, this
probably has all the features you would want to use.
