Are you running Fink Commander from it's disk image? It actually has to
be run a real disk.
Can you paste the error message for the KDE problem into a message for the
list?

I have added links to the Fink project from the Mac
page of the open source section of my education site
School-Library.net
Not finding a banner of any kind on the fink pages, I
created one and used it to link to fink. Please have
a look. I hope it is okay.
The Mac page is

What is your installation method?

Hi,
I have fink running fabulously. I downloaded Kstars,
the Gimp, XChat, and all of the KDE games and kdeedu
stuff (I'm a teacher).
Pretty cool. I've already wasted a good chunk of time
playing Mahjongg, kpoker and samegame. What a great
waste of time! Who says there aren't enough games for

This isn't a fink problem: it's a problem with the remote server.
Find out for sure who the maintainer is with "fink describe audiofile".

Try rebuilding openjade, then gtk-doc, and try the update once more (I'm
kind of working from memory on a similar problem that happened on a
different package).

Start by rebuilding opensp3, and then try to update gnome-libs again.

Most X11 applications that are compiled for OSX 10.2 will work for Apple
X11, such as applications you get from fink. There's no separate package
manager for Apple X11 vs XFree86.

Running fink update-all results in Fink attempting to update and
install gnome-libs-1.4.2-5. However, the install fails. Here are the
results:

Where can I find apps that will work with Apples X11? Do they have to
be complied (is there a package manager)?
Is Apples X11 limited to the same packages as XDarwin, or will they
run
any unix packages?
They can use more or less the same packages: the limiting factor isn't

Also, if you think the download URL is wrong, you should contact the
package maintainer rather than this list: we can't change anything.

You probably have Virex 7.2 installed: it uses some fink-derived
libraries.
If you want to use both Virex and fink's binary installer, one option is
to turn Virex off, remove the /sw folder, install fink, then install
dlcompat, curl, and openssl--these provide the same libraries. Then you
