You installed XFree86, and quartz-wm therefore probably doesn't work
anymore (as you're on Jaguar). Is it even present on your system
still?
Try putting
export KDEWM=kwin
in your .xinitrc to clear out quartz-wm from your old session info (KDE
saves what window manager you were using last)
