I ran fink selfupdate-cvs with no problems. When I ran fink update-all I
ran into this:

You were correct. I installed openssl-dev and gnome-vfs (without -ssl)
updated without a problem.

from root to my account on the files identified in the error messages
and now I don't have "sudo" everything.
