Good. I think the X11User.pkg installer should have created the symlink,
but we all know how this installer is doing its job...

Martin was right. I created the symlink /usr/X11R6 -> X11 and
everything worked fine.
Thank you all.

Martin,
just to be as clear as possible, what I actually did was:
- Removed Fink and all packages
- Upgraded X11 to 2.1.4
- Upgraded XCode Tools to 3.0
- Installed Fink from source

Martin,
thank you. Actually, I had Fink installed on Tiger 10.4.9 and
everything worked fine. Then, I upgraded to 10.5, 10.5.1 and 10.5.2.
Since a few issues started to come out after that, and since I had a
huge /sw folder, I decided to go for a full removal & clean re-
install. Of
That would indeed be a sign of trouble. There should also be some messages
indicating which files are being looked for to activate the appropriate

Just for the record, and because this doe
Try "fink-virtual-pkgs --debug". That will produce verbose output as to
what's going on in the x11 virtual package generation.
Unfortunately, Apple seems to have stopped putting the X11User package online
after 10.3

Alexander,
thank you for your help. I think I had the original Leopard-shipped

I'm not sure. So, I think I ought to re-install it, try fink, and then
possibly upgrade. Unfortunately, I'm away from my place at the mo

Hi folks,
I'm running Leopard 10.5.2. To get Fink installed, I did the following:
- I installed the latest version of X11 (2.1.4)
- I installed the latest version of XCode Tools (3.0)
Now, I bootstrapped Fink and everything went fine. Unfortunately,
whenever I type "fink install SomePa
