Just so you know, now that Apple's fixed Sherlock in 10.1.4, I use it all the time to find hidden files. Just make sure in addition to whatever name you look for, choose the "is invisible" option under custom. This will find files with the Finder's invisible bit ticked, but also anything made

Last night I installed bundle-gnome. I have both XDarwin and Windowmaker installed also, but being a beginner, I have no idea how to start up anything related to gnome! I could use a little guidance here in running gnome and/or a good text to instruct me in the use of it. Thanks.
