Odd: I didn't need gnupg-idea. I wonder if you have some package
installed that should depend on gnupg-idea, but doesn't.
At least it's not crashing on the help anymore!

The version of gpg in the binary distribution has a missing
dependency on gdmb (just like the ethereal paackage in bin dist lacks
an openssl dependency). Sorry for the inconveniance, but you can
manually install the gdbm package and then gnupg should work just
fine.

In any case, install the gdbm package, and that should take care of the
problem. You didn't do anything wrong--there was a dependency missing in
the package's description.
