I recently installed fink on 10.3 for the first time, and I have been having a recurring problem when trying to install packages. I started with KDE, then moved to freeciv, and and ended up trying to install 3dpong as the simplest thing I could think of to install to try and eliminate variables. No matter what I try and install, I get this message:

Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
The following NEW packages will be installed:
3dpong
0 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/34.2kB of archives. After unpacking 0B will be used.
dpkg (subprocess): failed to exec dpkg-split to see if it's part of a multiparter: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing /sw/var/cache/apt/archives/3dpong_0.4-2_darwin-powerpc.deb (--unpack):
subprocess dpkg-split returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
/sw/var/cache/apt/archives/3dpong_0.4-2_darwin-powerpc.deb
E: Sub-process /sw/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

/sw/bin/dpkg gives me the same error no matter what I try and install. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I have tried a "binary update descriptions" and "dist-upgrade packages" and they both say that I am up to date. I also did a self-update just yesterday, and an update-all both also tell me I am updated.

thanks for the help, sorry if I seem like a newbie
