Thanks Alexander and Benjamin. Xfree86 was the solution and I have and
almost working version of KDE3.2. I have many apps, wm and lots of
goodies but...
I'm missing help files and several other needed files. I tried to
update kmail and got dependency problems:

Gentlemen,
I decided that I would uninstall Apple's X11 and am now downloading
xfree86 and -shlibs via fink. Any other advice? Not having used
anything but Apple's X11 I'm not sure how to proceed with xfree86 once
the download is complete.
Thanks,
Brian

The "xdpyifo" commmand will show you that, and more.
Cheers,

Still in update land for kde. I'm running OSX 10.2.3 if I forgot to
mention it. Can I re-download the package (bundle-kde) and remove the
existing package that won't compile and then try again? If so, how do I
re-download? How do I find out which package contains the missing file?
Muchas Gracia
There's an unofficial binary distribution-- check out

That might be something to try. There's no real way to put in a
replacement file.

Helpp!

Dear Alexander,
In my ongoing efforts to update bundle-kde and the inability to install
kdebase3-shlibs-3.2.1-11 I have searched through :
/bin/mv /sw/src/root-kdebase3-3.2.1-11/sw/lib/kde3/
where the missing *randr*.so file is supposed to reside. I don't know
if I need other missing files yet
