I am working on porting a c++ program that I may bring to fink if I can get it to work, and I keep running into a problem. Every time I try to link two object files, one with a template the other needs, I get an error, for example:
ld: warning prebinding disabled because of undefined symbols
ld:
Following Max's suggestion, my next batch of new splitoff packages are
packages which combine together existing foo and foo-shlibs packages into
a single .info file, using the SplitOff field. The new packages have
been put into shared-libraries/splitoff, and if there are no objections
they will b

I remember comments somewhere about doing too many update-prebindings
between restarts could cause disk problems. It would sure explain some
of the problem's I have had before...but I dont know how true it is.

This topic has also come up on the unix-porting list.
As far as I know, no Fink packages currently enable prebinding of any of
their libraries. I don't understand the prebinding system very precisely,
but I suspect that we could implement this in Fink but if we did so we
would need to add some "

the poster that he try -devel instead, and he told me to forward

Fink's selfupdate picked it up & installed it this morning. No errors on
the build / install process, though I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

it is updated, I also added libnessus-ssl which needs to be compiled first
so if you move over to ssl support rebuild libnasl, nessus-common or
nessus-common-nox and nessus-plugins and also the plugins now provide the
needed nes files. Let me know how it all works, I've had one compile bug

I have commited a batch of revised packages to the shared-libraries/splitoff
CVS module. If there are no objections from the maintainers or others, these
will be moved to unstable in one or two days, and to stable a week later.
The new packages:
apt-0.5.4-2
curl-7.9.2-3
curl-7.9.6-2 (this is a r

Sounds like a good plan, David. Now, can you start conversion on
those packages that already are split into a base and -shlibs package
but don't use SplitOff for that yet? Like gdk-pixbuf. For it would
reduce the build time...

Sadly the libmpeg-shlibs splitoff in both stable and unstable is
broken. It only contains the libmpeg.dylib symlink, the one file it's
never supposed to contain, but is missing the files that it *must*
contain, namely libmpeg.1.dylib and libmpeg.1.3.1.dylib
Since at least gimp, and important p
