I have bee working on porting a new syslog daemon called Modular Syslogd
http://sourceforge.net/projects/msyslog/. It is based on the BSD version
however this one support many cool features like tcp connections, MD5
message integrety, and MySQL logging. This would be a great addition to
the fink project and I would be willing maintain it. I just need a little
help with a strange problem that is occurring to have a complete port.

I finally got the binary to compile and link correctly and all works
perfect except for one one major bug. The Unix input module gets and
"Operation not supported" message when attempting to create the /dev/log
input socket. The error does not appear when I specify a socket that is
not in the /dev directory like /var/slog. I have concluded that the
problem lies in the way we try to create this socket.

Any help is appreciated.
