First, I'd like to thank the developers for everything. I've been
happily using debian for years (always following unstable), and felt
a little saddened to remove it from my G4 to try osx...now I've
found fink and feel like I haven't left it behind at all.
Now, to beg for some help: I'm try

xfree86-rootless is supposed to conflict with mesa - they both provide the
OpenGL libraries. So, if you have xfree86-rootless installed, you don't
need mesa.

Hi,
You all might want to know about this conflict with xfree86-rootless
& mesa. I don't particularly need mesa, as wanted to play around with
xscreensaver. Ah well do what you want with Mesa to bring it up
to date if necessary.

sudo /sw/bin/fink install me
It's a bit inconvenient, but I was able to install Xfree86 4.2 using Fink
(xfree86-server and xfree86-base), but only after removing qt first. For
those not following this thread, it had to do with conflicts with
xfree86-rootless over gl.h and libgl.

Not all packages are available as binaries (usually due to licensing
issues). You will have to run "fink install tetex" and so on, for
the missing packages.

Stupid question. I've done this before but I've forgotten how I did it.
I've installed Xdarwin and it's working fine, but when I install Windowmaker
through fink, I still get the plain vanilla X-window desktop. I thought
there was a file I needed to edit somewhere. Is this the case? I would have

seems to be missing gnuplot, tetex, and tetex-base.

Just a few words of appreciation:
Fink team: thanks. The more I use it the more I Like it. I will never
remove it from my HD. When it comes to keep your system updated, sane
and sound there is no better: don't you just *love* doing a fink
self-update and check whether your system can be made t
