has anybody managed to get ppower4 to work? I'm especially keen to get
it working with Lyx. I cannot get the transitions to work either
through Lyx or by exporting the file to Latex from Lyx.

Hi Jens,
Well, it turns out that you found a bug in dlcompat, thanks :-)
When the new dlcompat revision hits unstable, you should update
dlcompat-shlibs and then pstoedit will work fine.
Note that it does work even now, but it crashes in exit().

Not easily. Which fink packages are broken?
The one I spent most of today fixing up is ccp4, which is in
sci/unstable. This is a rather large amalgamation (300 MB) of X-ray
crystallography programs written mostly in fortran but many combine
