I don't think it has to do with the recent upgrade to 4.4.0-2 for
10.2-gcc3 but more with the fact that I use X11 mostly for things
like xpdf, display etc. but I realized that I can't input eight
bit chars like e.g. German umlauts via Opt-U char like in
Terminal App.

install.
I read in the archives that it may be due to a broken link on my perl
mirror. Tried to change that, but refused to install also.
Any clue?

I am having trouble with mplayer (yes, I am aware of the Aqua port, but
I like the interface under X11 much more). I run X11 in full screen
mode and use KDE as my desktop environment. mplayer is version
0.90.0-14 - in fact, my entire environment is just the latest versions

Actually, I just ran into the same issue, and it appears the issue is
with a bad test (the hostname look up of the UK perl site has changed
from .co.uk to .org.uk).

the same cause, the broken package manager). However, the command
suggested in the website, i.e.
fink install fink-0.21.2-1
does not work. What I get is: Failed. No matching version found for
fink.
