was helpfully told to delete my X11 and reinstall it and make sure the
system-xfree86 and system-xfree86-dev are installed. I did that on one
machine (an ibook g4) and it was fine. So I decided to go back and try

gimp-print from with the gimp-print-5.0.0-beta2 from the gimp-print project?
